Baluch Sardars` statement

QUETTA: Nawab Mohammad Khan Jogazai, Member, Constituent Assembly and Mir Jaffar Khan MLA (Sind) and a prominent Baluch Sardar in a joint statement yesterday [June 28] say: `Baluchistan Sardars have af ter full consideration decided that the rights of the people of Baluchistan will be best preserved by joining Pakistan. They will in this way not only maintain autonomy in internal af f airs but will also march along with the neighbouring Muslim provinces on the road to economic and political progress.

Stating that the people of Baluchistan in Pakistan shall be governed by Shariat Laws the Baluch Sardars say: `We are glad that through the efforts of Qaed-e-Azam the people of Baluchistan have been saved from the impending Hindu domination and it is because of him that they are on the threshold of freedom under the Islamic State. Those trying to mislead the Muslims by slogan of Azad Baluchistan are our enemies.

[Meanwhile, as reported from Hyderabad Deccan,] The Hyderabad Government, it is understood, will negotiate with both the Indian Union Government and the Pakistan Government for `Standstill` arrangements for at least two years in regard to fiscal and economic relations. ... It is also learnt that Hyderabad on attaining an independent sovereign status, will send its Ambassadors to both Governments of the Indian Union and Pakistan. Dawn Delhi
