KARACHI: Armed robbers shot dead a man and over resistance and took away Rs0.8 million from him in the Lyari area on Tuesday evening.

The Kalakot police said that armed motorcyclists snatched cash from Aurangzeb Sarbazi, 45, and shot at and wounded him when he put up resistance near the Chakiwara post office.

He suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors pronounced him dead.

His relative told Dawn that the robbers took away Rs800,000 cash f rom him.

The victim was a cousin of local Pakistan Peoples Party leader Zahid Baloch.
