EPD staff directed to expedite drive against dengue

LAHORE: Punjab Environment Protection Department (EPD) Secretary Dr. Naeem Rauf has directed to speed up the anti-dengue campaign all over Punjab and warned the officials of negligence in this regard.

During a field visit, Rauf inspected an underconstruction building in Gulberg Town area where dengue larvae was present in large quantity. During the visit, Dr. Naeem directed Director (EDH) Naseem Shah to expedite the anti-dengue campaign. He directed that the premises where dengue larvae was found, would not be opened until the responsible persons would clear the building of the larvae and they would also submit a legal affidavit or undertaking thatsuchactofneghgence would not happen again.

Director General EPA Punjab Ambreen Sajid also visited under-construction sitesinGardenTownwhere dengue larvae was present at multiple places. The DG said all squads of EPA are working vigilantly and she herself is heading the entire operations.

EPA Spokesman Sajid Bashir said so f ar anti-dengue squadshaveinspected 181,499 sites in entire Punjab and issued 1,263 notices and got registered dozens of first information reports f rom January 2022 to June 28, 2022.

From June 1 to 28, as many as 31,619 places were inspected by antidengue squads and 197 notices issued while thesquads removed 761 sources from the sites, he said.

Bashir said nine squads are checking dengue larvae in all [nine] towns of the provincial capital and they have five domains petrol pumps, CNG stations, service stations, under-construction sites and warehouses.

He said the squads are not only issuing notices but are also educating the masses about the issue.

SEMINAR: The Lahore General Hospital (LGH) organised a dengue clinical management seminar to educate young doctors to play an important role in the management of dengue patients.

The seminar was organised by the medical unit III of the LGH, where speakers highlighted the role of the young medics to serve the ailing humanity saying that Pakistani youth are second to none in ability and intelligence sincetheyneedtospenda part of their income on specialization in medical fields and to become PhD and researcher to be successful in a practical field.

Young doctors were urged to keep their information up to date on all the symptoms and stages of denguefever and seek guidance from experienced doctors so that when they face complex cases of dengue fever, they do not have any dif ficulty in getting proper treatment and care of the patient.

The LGH administration is paying full attention to better care and treatment of such patients free of cost. More than 100 doctors participated in the seminar.
