Rescue 1122 centre in Maidan demanded

LOWER DIR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl district chief Sirajuddin here on Tuesday demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to establish a separate office of Rescue 1122 in Maidan area.

In a statement, he said that several incidents occurred recently in Maidan wherein the victims suffered hard due to lack of rescue and relief services.

Mr Sirajuddin said that the distance between Timergara and Maidan was 25 kilometres and it took more time to send firefighters and rescue workers to Maidan due to the dilapidated condition of the road.

He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should immediately start a separate service of Rescue 1122 in Maidan.

COMPENSATION: The Elementary and Secondary Education Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday handed over cheques to the students of government primary school, Dapur, in Maidan who had suf fered injuries in a wall collapse incident.

The department`s deputy director planning and development, Sajjad Ahmad, along with district education officer Prof Uzair Ahmad and others visited the affected school and handed over a cheque for Rs200,000 to the heirs of Javeria, 5, who was killed in the incident.

Similarly, cheques for Rs20,000 each were given to the families of the injured students. Correspondent
