2017-08-29
SWABI: The members of opposition benches in Swabi tehsil council have tabled no confidence motion against the tehsil nazim and naib nazim.

Sources said that Jamaati-Islami joined hands with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and parted ways with the ruling Swabi Democratic Alliance that was striving to save its nazim and naib nazim. Voting on the no confidence motion would take place on September 6.

`We got a golden opportunity to dislodge the present tehsil government,` said a PTI member. The council has 22 members. Wahid Shah, a candidate of JI, was elected tehsil nazim and Gohar Khan of ANP became naib-nazim after the local government elections 2015.

Both Mr Shah and Mr Gohar were enjoying support of 15 members when the tehsil government was formed. About two weeks ago, before presentation of annual budget the JI members developed differences with nazim and naib-nazim.

However, Mr Shah said that he still enjoyed support of a JI minority member Barkat Masih but theremaining members of JI opposed him.

Later addressing a press conference JI, PPP, PML-N and JUI-F members said that they had support of 15 members. Women councillor Tabsum Khan alleged that her resignation presented in the council by naib nazim was a fake one.
