Baffa-Pakhal tehsil notification to be challenged in court

MANSEHRA: The action committee of Shinkiari tehsil on Monday announced it would move the court seeking orders for the cancelation of the provincial government`s notification to declare Baffa-Pakhal a tehsil.
The announcement was made af ter a meeting of the committee in Shinkiari here.
The people from various union councils made part of the new BaffaPakhal tehsil attended the event in large numbers.
Speaking on the occasion, elder Baseeruddin Awan said the government`s notification on Baffa-Pakhal tehsil would be challenged in the court of law as the people of majority of the union councils incorporated inthe new tehsil wanted to be part of Mansehra tehsil.
RAPE SUSPECTS HELD: The Oghi police on Monday arrested two men in a sexual assault case.
`We have arrested Mohammad Sohail and Mohammad Tanveer in Bagrian village of Oghi tehsil on the charge of sexually assaulting a woman at her home and filming the incident by using video cellphone.
Raids are under way to arrest two other suspects, Mohammad Zohaib and Rehman Shah, too,` Oghi police SHO Wajid Ali told reporters here.
The SHO said the Lahore-based alleged rape victim, who had come to the area to celebrate Eidul Azha with family, claimed the four suspects had committed the crime when she and her sister-in-law were alone at home on Aug 20 night.
He said the police had seized the incident video and would use it as evidence in the case.
DECENTRALISATION: Political adviser to the chief minister and MPA Zargul Khan on Monday that the provincial government wasempowering the people by devolving powers.
`Our government believes in the people`s empowerment through decentralisation. KP was the first province, which advocated the local government system and divided bigger administrative units into tehsils and districts to ensure the provision of better civic services to the people, he told a reception hosted for him by the people of Baffa here.
The event was held to celebrate the grant of the tehsil status to BaffaPakhal area by the government.
The people, especially youths, danced to the traditional beat of drums.
Mr Zargul insisted that the PML-N government had been making claims about the laying of gas pipelines in Baffa and Pakhal areas since 1997 but there was nothing in sight as such.
`We (PTI government) don`t believe in announcing projects, which we cannot execute. The notification of Baffa-Pakhal tehsil confirms the fulfilment of our commitments made to the people,` he said.
