JI concerned over rise in robberies in Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: The local chapter of Jamaat-i-Islami has expressed concern over rise in robbery incidents and delay in action against the doctors of government city hospital for their alleged negligence which caused the death of a Class-IV employee of the education department.
Speaking at a meeting held here on Sunday chaired by Lakki tehsil ameer Sabz Ali Khan Naveed, the JI leaders said that Haji Mirwall was wounded in robbery attempt and then died due to doctors`negligence.
They said that the local administration and health officials had assured of taking stern action against the negligent doctors, but to no avail.
On the occasion, Sabz Ali said that authorities concerned were trying to save the negligent doctors. He said the patients suffered as doctors avoided to attend their duties at the government city hospital. `Absence of doctors at night time has caused several deaths during last couple of months,` he alleged.
Mr Ali said that theft and robbery incidents had become common as police had failed to protect the lives and properties of citizens.
The JI leaders demanded of the government to direct quarters concerned to ensure payment of salaries to the municipal committee employees .
CELL PHONE SNATCHED: A bandit deprived the owner of mobile phone shop of phone sets at the main bus stand in Lakki city on Sunday.
According to reports, a bandit disguising as a customer entered the shop of Haji Shahid and asked him to show mobile sets. The shopkeeper placed three phone sets before him and asked for choice. But the bandit reportedly took his pistol out, snatched the items at gunpoint and escaped along with another accomplice, who was waiting outside the shop, on a motorbike.
Police launched search to arrested the robbers, but no arrest was made till filing of this report.
Meanwhile, mobile phone dealers association asked the local police to arrest the bandits and recover the looted phones within 24 hours, otherwise they would stage protests.
