1,500 to be inducted into counterterrorism department

QUETTA: Recruitment for Balochistan Police`s Countenerrorism Depanment (CTD) has begun and initially 1,500 personnel will be inducted into the force, according to Inspector General Ahsan Mehboob.
Speaking after inaugurating the CTD complex in the Speni road area here on Wednesday, he said that personnel of the CTD, Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) and other institutions would play an effective role against terrorists and for the establishment of peace in the province.
The new complex of the CTD had been constructed at a cost of Rs168 million, he said, adding that the construction had been completed eight months ahead of the schedule.
Mr Mehmoob said the police were determined to achieve their targets with the available funds and resources.
Additional IGs Muhammad Ayub Qureshi and Moazzam Jah Ansari, Quetta DIG Abdul Razzaq Cheema, CTD`s Deputy Inspector General Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya, Commissioner of Quetta Division Amjad Ali Khan and senior police officers were present on the occasion.
The Balochistan IG said that on the directives of the provincial government work had begun for improving the CTD`s performance. He said the provincial government had provided Rs500 million for the purchase of latest equipment and projects.
