T HIS is a grave matter for retrospection. It is an utter mockery of Pakistan`s so-called democracy where the constitution is amended rather twisted like rubber not for the benefit of its people but for corrupt civilian dictatorialpoliticalleaders.

The US amended its constitution for the welfare of its citizens only 27 times in the long history of almost two-and-ahalf centuries. We have made almost the same number of amendments in 70 years.

Very recently, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif got the constitution amended in order to be the head of the party af ter being disqualified .

Is it not injustice to call such people as Mr Sharif our democratic leaders? Don`tthe masses have any significance in matters of constitutional amendments? M. Shakeel Ur Rahman Hissam Dera Ismail Khan
