Alarm over rising dacoities in Burewala

On Saturday night, Faqir Muhammad and Allah Ditta of Chak 233/EB were killed while offering resistance during a robbery in the Gagoo police precincts.

On Monday night, dacoits killed Shaukat Ali Kasalia over resistance while he was on his way home on a motorbike in Chak 225/EB.

In another incident, dacoits entered the house of Pehlwan, a local farmer, of Chak 233/EB, held the entire family at gunpoint and looted Rs300,000 and other valuables. They beat up Pehlwan for offering resistance and fled.

Three dacolts took away Rs300,000 and injured a commission agent and his associate near Chak 269/EB. Bashir Ahmad Panhwar and his friend Allah Rakha were going on a motorbike to pay cash to a farmer in Arifwala when dacoits intercepted them. They injured the two men on resisting and fled with Rs300,000.

Five dacoits entered the house of Sarfaraz Gujjar in Chak 253/EB on Monday night and took away about seven tolas of gold jewellery and cash. They also roughed up Sarfaraz overresistance andned.

Local traders while talking to the media expressed concern over the alarming rise in dacoities and thefts during the last few days, especially in Burewala tehsil.

They pointed out that millions of rupees were being spent on purchase of petrol to ensure police patrolling, adding police had failed to check the rising crime.

Vehari District Police Officer Sadiq Ali Dogar said police were trying to arrest the culprits on a priority.
