LAHORE: Around 44 teams in the 9-11 and 12-14 years age groups in four pools competed in the Lahore Pool Rounds of 11th DAWN In Spelling Bee contest on Wednesday.

Winners in the 9-11 years group were Sacred Heart Convent School Lahore; Froebel’s International School Lahore; Laurel Bank School System, Shalimar Campus, Lahore; and Ibne Sina College, Lahore.

The schools that won in the 12-14 group were St Anthony’s High School, Cantt, Lahore; Lahore Grammar School, 1A1 Senior, Lahore; Laurel Bank School System, Shalimar Campus, Lahore; and Beaconhouse School System, Gujrat.

Pronouncers were Batul Jafri and Samia Shah Zaman. The judges were Zainab Afaque, Sadia Saeed, Raheela Zafar and Raza Naeem, arranged by the Oxford University Press.

The competition is organised in partnership with the US Embassy in Islamabad.

The winners will now compete in the Lahore Regional Finals on Nov 2.-Staff Reporter
