TOBA TEK SINGH: The tehsil municipal administration (TMA) launched action against 58 illegal housing colonies on Friday.

TMA Administrator Ahmad Khawar Shahzad told reporters the purchase and sale of the plots in the tehsil had been stopped with immediate effect while revenue patwaris had been directed to incorporate `red-ink` entry against the land ofillegal colonies.

They had also been refrained from issuing a copy of the land record in such colonies.

He said only 13 colonies were approved in the tehsil while cases of nine colonies were pending with the TMA and all the remaining 58 colonies were illegal.

Mr Shahzad said he had directed the officials concerned to remove all the billboards displayed outside the illegal colonies or on the roads and seal the offices of the colonies.
