Ways to improve citrus yield discussed

FAISA LABAD: Speakers at a seminar stressed the need for growers to adopt superior agriculture practices to get better yield of orange crop.

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Faisalabad organised the event in Sargodha on Wednesday on the export of kinnow.

The event was attended by growers and exporters.

Dr Waqar of the United StatesAgency for International Development Pakistan highlighted challenges faced by Pakistani citrus sector and issues affecting it and export of the crop. He said improvement in product quality was imperative for higher yields.

Ministry of Commerce Joint Secretary Muhammad Ashraf said the government was endeavouring to help exporters increase awareness inthe context ofproduct quality.

Japan1nternational Cooperation Agency consultant at TDAP Karachi, Masao Otsuka, gave a presentation on opportunities in Japan. TDAP Faisalabad Director Allahdad Tarar, SCCI President Qaisar Iqbal, Citrus Research Institute Planning Officer Malik Abdul Rehman and others also spoke.Staff Correspondent
