RESTRICTING the entry of Muslim immigrants in the United States as promised by US President-elect Donald Trump may smack of racism but is ultimately a boon for the ummah.
What have Muslim immigrants achieved in the West? Their financial standing may have improved but in the bargain they lost the cultural values that we hold so dear. The first generation that lands there is very particular about observing these values. However, withthe passage of time they and definitely their progeny melt into local society.
Muslim countries are lagging behind in development compared to Western countries because thereis a dearth of higher educational facilities, and whatever brains our institutions produce are drained out to western countries.
Trump will do us a great service by banning Muslim immigrants. As a result, the country of the origin will benefit. Thank you Mr Trump Sayed G.B. We as Pakistanis need to understand that American citizens entrusted with the task of electing a president, picked the one best-suited for them, and not for others. The criteria for the American electorate was not to elect a proPakistan or pro-Muslim president. They have elected a person best suitedfor theirinterests.
Second, and most importantly, our protests ring hollow when back home non-Muslims are not allowed to eat openly in Ramazan during day. One province refuses to accept the IDPs by threatening to create a wall within the country similar to the one Mr Trumps wants to build along Mexico. In this country people are declared non-Muslim everyday by ultra-moralists.
The only difference between Trump and us is that we are actuallydoing all the things that he only said he would do to win elections. We should 1001< inward before giving moral sermons to others.
