Three of a family killed in Lakki road accident

LAKKI MARWAT: A former woman councillor, her son and a grandson were killed in a road accident on the Indus Highway here on Monday.

Officials and witnesses said a speedy passenger bus going to Karachi from Mardan hit a motorbike near a filling station on the busy highway. They said three persons were riding the bike which was going to Mash Masti Khani village.

They said two bike riders, including a woman, died instantly, while another was seriously injured. The wounded also succumbed to injuries in hospital in Naurang town. The deceased were later identified as a former councillor Rambela Bibi, her son Naseer Mohammad, and grandson Wahab.

The incident shocked and saddened the entire rural locality and people started rushing to the house of the victims. The bodies were handed over to relatives for burial after fulfilling formalities at the hospital.

TEACHERS PROTEST: Local PPP leaders have expressed concern over the lethargic attitude of the provincial government towards addressing the genuine demands of college teachers, particularly delay in awarding one-step promotion to them.

The concern was shown at a meeting on Monday with former district vice president Haji Isamgul in the chair.

The PPP leaders said the college teachershadlaunched agitation and class boycott for acceptance of their genuine demands. `Teachers are placed in high esteem in the society but they are lacking due place in this part of the world,` they maintained. Correspondent
