SUKKUR: Kandhkot police on Monday arrested an alleged ringleader of a gang and his accomplice after an exchange of fire in which the suspects were wounded.

According to Athar Channa, spokesman for the Kandhkot-Kashmore SSP, police were carrying out a search in a locality when the criminals` ringleader, Fareed Jafferi, and his accomplice Ali Hassan Bhangwar opened fire on them.

Police returned fire and succeeded in arresting Jafferi after he became wounded along with his accomplice Bhangwar, he said, adding that police found a TT pistol and a rifle in their possession.-Correspondent
