KARAK: A small dam would be built in Karak district with a huge chunk of Rs760 million to meet shortage of water for drinl
They claimed that the dam had been approved in the annual developmental plan of the provincial government. They said the dam would be constructed in Latamber union council.
The sources said it had been the longstanding demand of the lawmaker to get a dam approved for the area to overcome water shortage, both for domestic and irrigation use.
The sources claimed that with the completion of the dam a green revolution would come about in the region. Dawn tried in vain to contact Qasim Khan Khattak to seek his comments on the claim.
TWO KILLED: Two close relatives were killed and three others were seriously injured in a road accident on Monday. Police said a speeding bike rammed into a van on Karak-Sabirabad road near Niazi Well Chowk, critically injuring five persons.

CAR RECOVERED: Karak police claimed on Monday to have recovered a car snatched from a person of Zhob district of Balochistan and also arrested the ringleader of a car lifters gang.
Police said about a week ago, Shahinullah of Ghundi Mir Khankhel booked a car from DI Khan to Kohat, but later he managed to tie the driver, Rehmatullah of Zhob district with a rope near Speena, a deserted place on the Indus Highway, and took away the vehicle. The driver later lodged FIR with Karak police station. The sources said the police arrested Shahinullah, the ringleader of car lif ters gang, and re covered the car from him.
Meanwhile, the police arrested 14 Afghan refugees for staying without legal documents in the district, according to a press release.
Besides, the Takht-iNusrati police arrested three gamblers and recovered Rs140,000 stake money from them. Similarly, Latamber police arrested eight gamblers during a raid.
