Pesco to send defaulters` list to NAB

PESHAWAR: Stepping up its recovery process of dues, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) announced on Friday to send a list of `chronic defaulters` to NAB and media to force them to pay dues at the earliest.

The Pesco issued a final notice for payment of outstanding bills worth Rs45 million to 16,000 defaulters of Peshawar circle. It was stated that defaulters` names would be sent to NAB and media if they failed to deposit their outstanding dues, according to a statement issued here.

It said the Pesco had served several notices to the defaulters for payment ofdues, but no heed was paid.

The Pesco`s high ups had decided to take punitive action against the defaulters by sending their names to NAB for further action if they failed to deposit the arrears. NAB could impose fine, arrest them or could award both the penalties.

The Pesco statement said about 1.6 million were outstanding against defaulters Abdul Sattar of Waliabad Baghbanan, and Wilayat Shah of Pandu Payan, and Rs1.4 million were to be paid by Multan of Zaryab Colony.

Similarly, defaulter Mohammad Karim was to pay Rs900,000, Gul Mohammad of Ghari Ahmad Mera Surizai Rs800,000 and Mohammad Laig Khan of Nasir Pur Rs700,000.
