Probe sought into `irregularities` in LG secretaries` appointment

2016-01-30
LAKKI MARWAT: Lakki Marwat tehsil council has demanded of the government to constitute a committee to probe the alleged irregularities in recruitment of secretaries of village and neighbourhood councils in the district.

The demand was made at a meeting held at the town hall in Lakki city on Friday. Tehsil naib nazim Dr Sarfraz Khan Meenakhel, who is also the convener of the council, chaired the meeting, which was also attended by tehsil nazim Hidayatullah Khan.

Taking part in the debate on distribution of uplift funds, irregularities in appointment of secretaries and other relevant matters, the council members from treasury and opposition benches said fingers were being raised from different circles over the recently made appointments of secretaries for the village and neighbourhood councils in the district.

`There are reports about the violation of merit in appointments as candidates are alleging they have been ignored despite having outstanding academic record and highest marks in NTS,` they said.

The councillors said the entire process of recruitments needed to be probed and those found guilty of wrongdoing should be taken to task. They also asked for equal distribution of uplift funds among all the members of the tehsil council.

Members of the council expressed concern over the delay in launching work on the proposed development schemes they had submitted with the quarters concerned.

The tehsil councillors feared that further delay in initiation of work on development schemes could shake the people`s trust over local government representatives. Speaking on the occasion, tehsil nazim Hidayatullah Khan said that several members had not provided their proposed uplift schemes which had delayed the process of disbursement of development funds. He assured that all members of the council would get equal share in the uplift funds.Correspondent
