CHAKWAL: A man was killed while another sustained head injury after a van smashed into their motorcycle, Rescue 1122 sources said on Monday.

Dildar Hussain, 40, and Mohammad Jehangir, 35, both residents of Khai village, were going to the nearby, Bhoun village, on a motorcycle.

When they reached the Bhoun by-pass a van loaded with gas cylinders, coming from the opposite side, hit their motorcycle.

Dildar Hussain died on the spot while Jehangir was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital Chakwal.

Due to his critical condition he was referred to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpjndi where he was reported to be in stable condition. The van overturned but its driver remained unhurt and managed to flee from the scene.

Kallar Kahar police have launched a search for the driver after registering a case against him.
