Missing infrastructure
2025-01-30
A DUAL-CARRIAGE road, starting from Kala Board, traverses Malir Khokhrapar No 2, Malir Extension Colony and densely populated surrounding areas, linkingup with Memon Goth, Malir and finally the Super Highway. The road lacks critical safety infrastructure, such as speed bumps, traffic signals and pedestrian bridges.
This negligence often results in accidents, causingthe tragicloss ofpreciouslives and leaving many with severe injuries.
One particularly alarming area is Khokhrapar No 2 near a medical centre.
The absence ofa pedestrian bridgeis especially concerning close to the Saudabad Government Hospital, given the daily movement of patients, medical staff and area residents.
The relevant authorities should take immediate steps to address the dire situation. Speed-breakers at appropriateintervals will surely control overspeeding, while installing traffic signals at major intersections will help regulate the traffic flow. Pedestrian bridges will ensure safe crossing for thousands of people. Such steps will enhance road safety, and provide the much-needed peace of mind to area residents and commuters.
The city mayor and other relevant authorities should treat this matter with the urgency it deserves, and take prompt action to save lives and prevent further tragedies.
