PCB chief satisfied over upgradation work at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday said that the upgradation work of the main pavilion and media boxes of the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium had been completed while the installation of chairs in the enclosures was about to be completed.

Rawalpindi is one of the three venues along with Lahore and Karachi for the eight-nation ICC Champions Trophy which is set to start in Pakistan on Feb 19.

According to a press release issued by the PCB, chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and was briefed on the upgradation work at the venue which is scheduled to host three group stage matches of the Champions Trophy, between Bangladesh and New Zealand (Feb 24), Australia and South Africa (Feb 25) and Pakistan and Bangladesh (Feb 27).

Mohsin inspected various parts of the stadium including pavilion, media box, VIP boxes and observed the work which is now in its finishing stage.

`An ICC tournament is being held in Pakistan after a long time and all preparations are complete for this event,` Mohsin said on the occasion while expressed his satisfaction over the progress on the upgradation work at the venue.

The PCB chief also reviewed the proposed security arrangements at the stadium for the touring teams.
