KARACHI: A young man was stabbed to death in Manghopir on Wednesday in the name of so-called honour, police said.

Pirabad SHO Imtiaz Mirjat said that Imran Rehan was killed inside a marble factory in MPR Colony.

During initial investigations, it transpired that he had tied the knot with his relative in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of their own free will.

The girl’s family had opposed the marriage, the SHO added.

He said that the victim was a watchman at a factory which was closed for more than a year. He lived with his family in the Banaras area.

The police said that the murder appeared to be motivated by his free-will marriage.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, a man was killed and three others were injured when a trailer hit another parked trailer on M-9 motorway on Wednesday morning.

Gadap City SHO Sarfaraz Jatoi said that a trailer was parked near DHA City due to some technical fault when another heavy vehicle coming from Hyderabad to Karachi hit it.

Four persons suffered injuries and were taken to a nearby private hospital, where Liaquat Rehman, 40, was pronounced dead on arrival. The officer said the deceased was the driver of the trailer which hit the parked vehicle. —Staff Reporter
