RAWALPINDI: The Punjab police have decided to launch a public relations campaign to raise awareness about policing facilities after efforts to establish high-quality facilities across Punjab failed to produce any notable outcomes.
Following the orders of InspectorGeneral of Police Dr Usman Anwar, police officers across Punjab have been assigned the task of launching a public relations campaign to make the public aware of policing facilities and how they could avail them.
In this regard, Central Police Officer Khalid Hamdani directed Senior Superintendent of Police Operation Kashif Zulfiqar, SSP Investigation Saba Sattar, SP Saddar Nabeel Khokhar, SP Rawal Muhammad Haseeb, Acting SP Potohar Kainat, and sub-divisional police officers and station house officers to make the public aware of policing facilities. A letter has been sent to the officers concerned about the campaign. It stated that all officers should visit the major mosques in their respective divisions/circles and police station limits on a daily basis and that these mosques should be made a collective centre for solving the problems of the public. In the future, any Jamia Masjid should be visited on a daily basis to listen to the public`s problems and every possible effort should be made to resolve them.
Similarly, it further stated that during the visit, the general public should be informed about Special Initiative Police Stations, Service Centres, Security Centres, Meesaq Centre, 1787 App, Zainab Alert, Yemen Safety App, and VirtualPolice Station App, etc.
In addition, the problems, criminals, and other activities of the area should also be identified during the public outreach campaign.
The high-ups have also sought a performance report for these daily measures in performa, which includes the name of the district, the name and rank of the officer, the name and the location of the mosque where the visit was made.
Meanwhile, the police have started a campaign to raise awareness about kite flying and celebratory firing. The officers gave awareness lectures at different educational institutions informing people about the dangers of these activi-ties.
They said kite flying and firing were dangerous, life-threatening, and punishable crimes.
