KARAK: Adviser to the provincial chief minister on prisons Malik Qasim Khan Khattak has demanded gas supply for all parts of Karak district without delay.
Talking to reporters here on Friday, the adviser said the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited had miserably failed to provide gas to 76 Karak villages despite approval in 2007.
He said local residents knew and fulfilled their rights and responsibilities well, so the federal minister should ensure early installation of gas meters at their houses without delay.
Mr Khattak said the people would extend all possible cooperation to SNGPL over installation of gas meters.
He said the people ofKarak were justified in demanding gas as SNGPL was not ready to provide gas from Gurguri to the villages approved for it, while the same gas had been provided to other parts of the country and therefore, denial of own facility to local population was unfair.
The adviser said oil and gas resources explored in Karak were the largest in the country and even such resources explored in other provinces were less than local ones.
He said the Khattak tribesmen had extended remarkable cooperation to oil and gas exploration companies and gas distributing company, SNGPL, but even then, they were denied due rights. Correspondent
