Reference held for Justice Nasir

KARACHI: Sindh High Court Chief Justice Ahmed AliM.SheikhonWednesday urged senior lawyers to play their due role in grooming of young lawyers.

He was addressing participants in a full-court condolence reference held to commemorate the sad demise of Justice Syed Saeeduddin Nasir and the advocates who died since 2016.

The chief justice paid rich tributes to Justice Nasir and said that the late judge was not only very intelligent and hardworking, but was also an extremely loving and family man.

Paying rich tributes to the late judge, president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association advocate Shahab Sarki said that the lawyers appearing before Justice Nasir never had any complaint against him.

He said that Justice Nasir came from a lawyers` family as both of his parents and younger brother were lawyers.

Advocate Sarki recalled that Justice Nasir`s younger brother died 10 years ago and since then he was also looking after the deceased`s family.

He pointed out that Justice Nasir remained judge of the high court for about two years, therefore, the bereaved family was not entitled to his pension.

He appealed to the president of Pakistan to amend the rules so that the high court judges who could not hold their offices for five years would also get pension.

Those who spoke on the occasion included senior puisne judge Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, Additional Advocate General Salman Talibuddin, Additional Advocate General Barrister Ghulam Mustafa Mahesar, Prosecutor General Shahadat Awan, and Karachi Bar Association president Naeem Q ureshi.

The speakers also paid rich tribute to advocates Mehrban Khan Niazi, Tariq Shikoh Khan, Syed Shoaib Bukhari, Fazal Ghani Khan, Mehtab Ahmed, Nasarullah Awan, Mehmood Ahmed Qureshi, Mehram G.

Baloch, Abdul Muqtadar Khan, Hafiz Lakho, Shafi Mohammed, Mohammed Iqbal Cheema, Ghulam Mujtaba Aslam and Ahmed Faroogi.
