LAYYAH: A ruling party MPA has moved a privilege motion against the Dera Ghazi Khan regional pohce ofhcer in the Punjab Assembly.

Chaudhry Ashfaq Ahmed (elected from PP-266) has pointed out rise in incidents of theft and dacoity and illegal occupation of the state land by the mafia.

`It has come to my knowledge that SHO Farhat Rasool is patronis-ing these acts. I complained about the situation to the chief minister who had ordered transfer of Farhat Rasool but the RPO hindered implementation of the orders. I spoke to RPO Rehmatullah Niazi who did not cooperate,` he said in the privilege motion.

He criticised the RPO who, he said, had no respect for the elected representatives and patronised the wrongdoers.

He requested the Speaker to hand over the motion to the privilege committee forfurtherproceedings.
