WITH the passing of every day of the holy month of Ramazan, most of us take our spiritual journey forward by trying to maximise good deeds and keeping everything else to a side. This is what the month is all about.
In doing so, however, some of us lose track of the spirit of the month, and become irascible, irritable and intolerant as the day makes its way towards the climax at sunset. This is exhibited in people`s behaviour in marketplaces, during rush hours in traffic, and even at home. Last year, I saw a fight in a mall an hour before Iftar. Should it not be the exactopposite ofit? These arethesacred hours in which we should be seeking maximum blessings, and try our best to abstain from wrongdoings.
I suggest that we should be more patient, more forgiving, and more courteous as we near the breaking of our fasts. Our intentions, speech and conduct should be at their optimum best during this time. We should make the most of the blessed opportunity all through the holy month to purify ourselves morally and spiritually.
