BAHAWALNAGAR: A youth, who was tortured by a mob after he was allegedly caught raping a mentally unstable woman in the washrooms of a mosque at Mandi Sadiq Ganj on Tuesday night, has been sent to jail after registration of a case, police said.
As per police sources, the youth, a resident of Mohallah Qasaban lured the woman to the mosque`s washroom and allegedly raped her.
When people, who were offering Traveeh payers in the mosque, heard the woman`s hue and cry, they nabbed the youth.
Meanwhile, a mob gatheredatthe scene,andpeople started beating the youth.
On being informed of the incident, a police party rushed to the scene and took the youth in custody after rescuing him from the mob.
District police spokesperson Idnan Ali said a case had been registered against the suspect at Mandi Sadiq Ganj police station on a citizen`s complaint and the suspect had been sent to jail.
