Women injured in stampede at BISP`s Mansehra centre

MANSEHRA: Three women were injured and several fell unconscious during a stampede, which broke out outside the Benazir Income Support Programme centre here on Wednesday during the distribution of cash handouts.
Rescue 1122 official Amir Khadam told reporters that the injured were shifted to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where their condition was safe.
He said the BISP centre was thronged by women registered by the BISP for financial assistance.Witnesses said thestampede occurred after some women tried to jump the queue causing several to fall down and suffer injuries.
They said some women fainted in the incident.
BISP director Zar Nabi told reporters that the stampede occurred as many women showed up at the centre without getting the programme`s formal messages toreceive cash handouts.
ROAD BLACKTOPPING: Residents of several Oghi areas on Wednesday demanded the early repair and blacktopping ofthe Bandi Shungli Patian Road to their relief.
Zahir Shah told reporters that traffic accidents were frequently reported on the key road, which was in bad shape.
Accompanied by people from urban and rural areas, he said local MNA Mohammad Sajjad and his predecessor retired captain Mohammad Safdar should step in to ensure the road work.
He said a group of locals took up the issue with heads of the relevant departments, but to no avail.
KILLED: Four teenage boys were killed in separate incidents here on Wednesday and Tuesday.
The police said Mohammad Mustafa, 6, was stoned before being strangled in the Matsarian area of Pulrah.
They said the boy had been missing since last Friday, while his body was found in a gunny sack in a forest near his house early on Wednesday.
The boy`s father, Abdul Malik, denied enmity and demanded exemplary punishment for the killer(s).
Also, gunmen killed Abdul Basit Shah, 15, and dumped the body near his housein the Jarad area of Kaghan valley.
The 10th grader had stepped out after breaking fasting.
Meanwhile, Kashif, 16, was found dead in Musafar Khatta area here. He had left home in the Dubarea with friends.
Also, a masked gunman killed Faisal Khan, 18, here and fled.
