Man held in honour killing case

SHANGLA: District police officer Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada claimed on Wednesday that the police had resolved a blind murder case by arresting a man along with three accomplices for killing his nephew for honour.

Addressing a press conference at his office, he said a local resident had reported to the Alpuri police that his nephew had committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol. However, he said after the medical report of the deceased came out the police suspected his version and registered a case under section 174 of CrPC and began further investigation.

DPO Sahibzada said during investigation employing modern technology, the police interrogated the family members, including the person, who had reported the case to the police.

He said widow of the slain told the police that she was threatened by her husband`s maternal uncle, the complainant in the case, and his sons if she informed the police about her husband`s murder.

The DPO said the police arrested the main suspect, who confessed to killing his nephew for having an affair with his daughter.

He said on the identification of the accused, the police also arrested his three facilitators.

The DPO said in another case a young boy, Maaz Ahmed, was stabbed to death in Puran area by his friend, Habibullah. He said the police arrested him from a bus stand in Aloch area.

The DPO said the slain boy`s uncle, Habibur Rehman had got registered an FIR with the Aloch police against Habibullah.

DPO Sahibzada said Ezat Khan, a resident of Larai Olandar area, told the police on March 18 that thieves took away gold ornaments and other valuables from his and a relative`s house during night when the inmates were not at home.

He said the police arrested a thief, Mohammad Ali, who identified his two other accomplices, Akbar Khan and Feroz Khan, a brother of the complainant.
