GUJRAT: The AntiC o r r u p t i o n Establishment`s Gujrat circle has arrested two patwaris in a case of inserting bogus mutations in land ownership revenue record.

On the direction of Punjab ACE director general, a team led by circle officer Afzal Gujjar raided places and arrested patwaris Mureed Abbas and Mehdi Hassan.

ACE Assistant DirectorShabeer Hussain said the patwaris had entered bogus mutations in land record of Gurha Habib village of Gujrat.

Fazal Hussain had lodged a complaint against the officials of land revenue department, accusing them of causing a loss to national exchequer as well as tempering the official land record. The ACE had earlier initiated a probe into the matter and later registered a case against the suspects.

SENTENCE: An addi-tional district and session judge of Gujranwala has awarded death sentence to a murder accused who had killed a rickshaw driver during a robbery.

Judge Malik Nisar Ahmed also ordered the accused to pay a sum of Rs 500,000 to the heirs of the deceased.

According to the prosecution, poor rickshaw driver Shahid Naeem had been kidnapped by the accused by disguising himself as a passenger and later took him to a deserted area and shot him dead.
