Protesters block G.T. Road

TAXILA: Protesters on Monday night blocked G.T.

Road in Hassanabdal for more than four hours by placing a body of a person killed over a land dispute.

Mohammad Nazakat and his brother Mohammad Farman were shot in Patahrgarh area in Hassanabdal police area on Friday allegedly by his uncle, a former councilor, and his two sons.

Nazakat died on the spot while his brother Mohammad Farman was shifted to DHQ hospital Rawalpindi in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening.

The relatives and sympathizers took the body to G.T.

Road to protest the murder and alleged delay in the arrest of the murderers.

They blocked RawalpindiPeshawar GT road by placing the body in the middle of the road where sub-divisional police office was also located around 7p.m.

The protesters chanted slogans against the police for not providing them justice.

Due to protest traffic remained stranded on GT road and Hazara road for over two hours causing immense hardship to commuters especially children and women traveling in public transport.

High ranking police officials, local member provincial assembly Shahwalz Khan and District Police Officer Israr Ahmed held negotiations with the protesters and got the traffic restored at around 11p.m.
