Next budget to prioritise ongoing uplift projects: CM

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday started working to prepare its annual development programme for the next fiscal.

Four separate meetings were held here, with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the chair, to discuss the proposed projects of sports, information, relief and Auqaf departments for inclusion in the ADP 2025-26, according to an official statement, The participants included the cabinet members, the chief secretary, additional chief secretaries, administrative secretaries of the relevant departments, and other senior officials, who also reviewed progress on the ongoing development projects.

The chief minister instructed officials to finalise ADP in a timely manner, saying the need for practical, need-based projects that can be completed within the stipulated time frame.

`The projects selected must benefit the maximum number of people, he said, adding that delays in project completion lead to an increased financial burden on the exchequer.

Mr Gandapur said the upcoming development budget would prioritise the completion of ongoing projects.

He said a significant portion of the budget should be allocated to such projects, with full funding provided for those nearing completion.

Highlighting the importance of judicious spending of developmental funds, the chief minister said the development funds came from taxpayers` money, which must be used wisely and meaningfully.

He also called for the elimination of duplication in development schemes across departments and advised against initiating identical projects under multiple departments.

Mr Gandapur said that land availability should be ensured before the launch of any new development projects. Bureau Report
