PESH AWAR: A student of a private university has accused a police official of forcing him to pay Rs100,000 bribe for unblocking his Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), but failing to do so.

Ahmad Rasheed, MBA student in Abaseen University, told a press conference here on Friday that his CNIC was blocked in 2013 for unknown reasons.

He said he had produced the entire record of his family to the officials of relevant departments, including special branch of police, but to no avail.

He said that Sattar Khan, who is AGO in the special branch, forced him to pay Rs300,000 for reopening his the blocked CNIC, but after negotiations he agreed to take Rs100,000 for the purpose. But, again he demanded another Rs100,000 to be paid to relevant officials for the purpose,` Rasheed alleged.

He said on his refusal the official started sending him threats.

`I submitted an application to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP for probing the matter and taking action against the official, the student said.

He said he belonged to Khalil Mohmand tribe and was residing in Zargarabad Peshawar where everybody knew his family, but even then the police official was trying to blackmail him.

The student said he had paid the money to the police official in compulsion because the CNIC was a must for obtaining his degree from the university and further education.

`The police official is threatening to implicate me in a criminal case, but I will not succumb to his pressure,` he vowed.

He appealed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP to take notice of the illegal act of the of ficial and help him unblock his CNIC.
