Balochistan to bring technical institutes under labour department

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to bring all polytechnic institutes, technology colleges, social welfare training centers, and small industries training institutions under the Department of Labour and Manpower.

These institutions will be administratively transferred to the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Authority (B-TEVTA) to ensure centralised and efficient management.

Additionally, the Board of Technical Education and the Trade Testing Board will also be brought under the operational control of B-TEVTA.

This move is expected to streamline governance and standardise technical education and vocational training across the province.

A meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, was held on Thursday at the Chief Minister Secretariat to review and reform the affairs of B-TEVTA.

Officials briefed the participants on the current structure and operations of B-TEVTA, highlighting areas for improvement and strategic integration.

CM Bugti directed that necessary amendments to the legal framework be prepared and submitted for approval in the upcoming cabinet meeting.

Emphasising the need for integration, he said: `Other provinces have already unified their technical education systems under a single authority. It is imperative for Balochistan to do the same to enhance coordination and performance.

The reforms are part of the provincial government`s broadervision to strengthen technicaland vocational education, boost skilled manpower and support economic development in Balochistan.
