LAHORE: A dust storm brought on Monday some relief to the Lahorites who had been braving unannounced power loadshedding and breakdowns for the last couple of days.
The wind was quiet right from dawn and mercury continued to rise along with outages till afternoon when the wind started blowing. However, by then mercury had touched 39.5 degrees Celsius mark.
The dust storm brought down temperature to 29 degree Celsius but there was no respite from loadshedding and low voltage from across the Punjab capital.
Electricity supply also suffered in many parts of the city as over 100 feeders tripped plunging several areas of the city into darkness.
The Met Of fice said strong winds started to blow at the speed of around 82km per hour at 3pm and dust covered the sky within moments. The wind speed was recorded at 102km per hournearthe airport.
The Met Office forecast rain-thundershower associated with gusty winds at scattered places of Lahore during the next 24 hours. Staff Reporter
