NOWSHERA: The Nowshera police arrested six persons and recovered from their possession a huge quantity of hashish and arms in three different raids here on Saturday.

In the first incident, SHO Risalpur during routine checking of vehicles stopped a van and recovered 28 kilogrammes of hashish and 14 kilogrammes of opium from its secret cavities.

Similarly, the police stopped a car for checking and recovered 24 pistols, five guns, three repeaters, 61 magazines and 6,000 live rounds of different bores from the vehicle.

In another incident, the police recovered 28 kilogrammes hashish and 14.3 kilogrammes opium from a car.

The arrested men were identified as Shahid Imran, Nasir Iqbal, residents of Hatian, Hafizabad, Shahzaib, resident of Matani, Peshawar, Hamis, resident of Dara Adamkhel, Wahid Shah of Peshawar and Asad of Bara, Khyber tribal district.—Correspondent
