LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore DIG Bilal Siddique Kamyana has tasked the police officers with arresting target offenders (TOs), proclaimed offenders (POs) and court absconders (CAs) to improve conviction rate in courts.

Chairing an anti-crime review meeting here on Wednesday, he said the crime prevention was only possible with the arrest of the criminals.

Lahore DIG Operations retired Capt Suhail Chaudhry, DIG Investigation Kamran Adil, SSPs of investigation and operations, all the divisional SPs of operations and investigation wings, CIA SP Asim Iftikhar and other respective officials attended the meeting.

On the occasion, the DIGs briefed the CCPO about the last two-month performance of bothoperations and investigation wings.

The meeting also reviewed crime control, law and order situation, arrangements for peaceful byelections and implementation of code of conduct of Election Commission of Pakistan during the election campaign by the candidates and their supporters, progress in completion of under-investigation pending cases, completion of targets for arresting the POs, CAs and other notorious criminals.

Bilal Siddique Kamyana ordered to speed up crackdown on narcoticsdealers and gamblers as well as law breal(ers involved in display of arms, possession of illicit weapons, aerial firing and kite flying.

`Immediateregistration of FIRs in cases of crime against properties, meritbased timely investigation and completion of challans are my top priorities,` the CCPO told the meeting.

He said he was regularly checking the response status of concerned police officers on received calls on helpline 15 and applications pendingatfront desk regarding registration of FIRs.

Mr Kamyana warned of strict action against the police officials, adopting undue delaying tactics inregistration of FIRs and failing in completion of challans in cases of heinous crimes.

`Investigation officers should probe the cases promptly on merit and put forward the complete challans in courts in coordination with prosecutors,` he said.

He directed SPs, SDPOs and SHOs to reach personally and observe the crime scene in heinous crime cases.

The CCPO directed divisional SPs to improve their intelligence network against drug dealers, gamblers and organised crimes.
