Shop reduced to ashes in Bajaur

BAJAUR: A workshop was reduced to ashes in Charmang area of Nawagai tehsil here on Saturday.

Residents and Rescue 1122 officials said that an electrical/mechanical workshop owned by Abdul Wahid located in Thangi Bazaar caught fire owing to unknown reasons.

Soon after the fire was erupted, local people rushed to the spot to prevent the blaze from spreading to other shops. However, they failed.

Rescue 1122 spokesman Riaz Ahmad Khan told Dawn that after being informed about the incident, a team of firefighters reached the scene to control the blaze.

However, he said the workshop was gutted and equipment was burnt to ashes before the firefighters reached the spot.

The official said the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining shops.

Later, MNA Mubarak Zeb Khan along with a team of supporters visited the burnt workshop to express sympathies with its owner.

Abdul Wahid, the owner, told the lawmaker that the fire caused him a loss of about Rs1 million, and asked for of financial assistance to rebuild his business. The MNA assured him of making efforts to get compensation approved for him. Correspondent
