Two killed, seven injured as heavy rain wreaks havoc in Sheikhupura

NAROWAL: Two people died and seven others were injured as roofs and walls of several houses collapsed during heavy thunderstorms and torrential rains in Sheikhupura district.
In a separate incident, a fiveyear-old boy is feared drowned in a canal. The downpour caused widespread damage to property, leaving citizens in financial distress.
Rescue 1122 said a house wall collapsed due to severe thunderstorms in village Khanpur onLahore Road.
Rescuers, with the help of local residents, pulled out 10-year-old Seyhar Shahid, who later succumbed to his injuries.
In another incident, a wall collapsed in Kot Abdul Malik`s Malo Bazaar due to heavy rain.
The rescue team shifted 15-yearold Arsalan Shahbaz, who had sustained serious injuries, to Ferozwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. However, he died before reaching the hospital.
Seven others were injured across in different places as walls and signboards came crashing down amid the strongwinds and rain. They were given first aid by rescue medical teams and shifted to nearby government hospitals.
In yet another mishap, Rescue 1122 received a call from Basra Colony reporting that a child had fallen into a canal. The child was identified as five-year-old Usman Ali. According to the rescue spokesperson, professional divers are continuing the search operation and will not stop until the child is found.
Local authorities have urged residents to remain cautious during the ongoing spell of bad weather.
