OKARA: As many as eight youths have been arrested among the 45 nominated from two rival groups in an FIR for disrupting peace and harassing locals in Ayub Park areaonSunday.

According to an FIR registered by City A Division police, the night patrolling team received a 15 call late on Saturday that around 50 young men were quarreling, shooting and harassing locals near Ayub Park. When the police reached the area, they encountered two groups carrying weapons, abusing each other and firing. Seeing the police, the youth escaped on motorcycles.The police said that both groups had been found involved in unlawful activities in the area. Police registered an FIR on the report of SHO Jehanzeb Zeb under sections 324, 337-H(2) and 188 of the PPC against 30 nominated and 15 unidentified suspects of both groups.

The police managed to arrest eight of the suspects and recovered 62 shells from various weapons used in the alleged cross-shooting.

Police teams were conducting raids to arrest the rest of the nominated suspects.

MURDERED: A case has been registered against unidentified culprits after the dead body of a teenager was found hanging from a tree in village 16/1L.As per the FIR, Amanullah (16) went to find work but after some time the victim`s father was informed by his nephew that his son`s dead body was hanging from a tree in the fields near Jamia Ishaga village.

The father and other villagers reached the spot where area police and Rescue 1122 teams were also called.

The FIR said that unidentified suspect(s) killed the teenager for unknown reasons and hanged the body to make it look like a suicide.

Saddar Renala police registered a case against unidentified killer(s) under section 302 of the PPC on the complaint of victim`s father Muhammad Hussain.
