`Police martyrs day` observed in Lower Dir

TIMERGA RA: The Lower Dir police on Wednesday arranged a function at the police lines to mark the `police martyrs day`. District police officer Qasim Ali Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.
The function was attended by police officers, heirs of the fallen policemen, and elders.
A total of 48 police officials, including DPO Khurshid Ali Khan, have died while battling terrorists in the district since 2009.
Addressing the gathering, Qasim Ali paid tributes to the fallen police personnel, saying policemen side by side army personnel laid down their lives to protect their homeland from terrorists.
The DPO said police department would never leave families of the fallen personnel alone.
Police officials sang songs and recited poetry to pay tribute to their fallen colleagues. The DPO distributed cash prizes among them.
SECURITY SOUGHT: A woman, mother of five children hailing from Bandagai village of Samar Bagh, has demanded of the district administration, inspector general of police and commandant Dir Scouts to provide security to her family.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club here the other day, she said her husband was abroad to earn livelihood for family, but his brother, Raz Mir Khan, had been threatening her and her children of dire consequences for the last one month.
The woman said she lived in a separate home along with her children and felt insecure. She said Raz Khan had killed his wife two months ago and now wanted to kill her for unknown reasons.
PESCO OFFICES: Local MNA Sahibzada Yaqub Khan has said the water and powerministryhasapproved Pesco sub-divisional offices for Maidan and Jandol tehsils.
Talking to journalists on Wednesday, he said power consumers of Maidan and Jandol had to go to Timergara for petty works related to Pesco. He said he raised the issue with the higher authorities of water and power ministry, which approved the Pesco subdivisions.
