NAROWAL: Thirty-six people who were trapped in the flood were rescued on Tuesday. They were trapped due to a torrential flood in the Baein rainwater drain.

The Rescue 1122 spokesperson said the control room had received a phone call from village Sikmal, Shakargarh. According to the caller, dozens of people, including women, were trapped in a sudden flood in the Baein rainwater drain.

The rescue team immediately reached the spot and rescued 36 people, including Afzal, Karamat Ali, Mansha, Muhammad Hafeez, Ikram, Faisal Ali, Ibrahim, Rafaqat Ali, Ashraf and Azeem, and shifted them to a safer place.

Sialkot Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali said teams of other departments, including Rescue 1122, were on 24-hour alert to deal with possible floods.

She said the citizens should call the district administration, Rescue 1122 or 15 to report any flood or natural disaster. Correspondent
