NAROWAL: Thirty-six people who were trapped in the flood were rescued on Tuesday. They were trapped due to a torrential flood in the Baein rainwater drain.

The Rescue 1122 spokesperson said the control room had received a phone call from village Sikmal, Shakargarh.

According to the caller, dozens of people, including women, were trapped in a sudden flood in the Baein rainwater drain.

The rescue team immediately reached the spot and rescued 36 people, includ-ing Afzal, Karamat Ali, Mansha, Muhammad Hafeez, Ikram, Faisal Ali, Ibrahim, Rafaqat Ali, Ashraf and Azeem, and shifted them to a safer place.

Sialkot Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali said teams of other departments, including Rescue 1122, were on 24-hour alert to deal with possible floods.

She said the citizens should call the district administration, Rescue 1122 or 15 to report any flood or natural disaster.
