SAHIWAL: Saddar police arrested a man on the charge of blasphemy levelled by a prayer leader of village Noorour Tibba in Chichawatni tehsil.

According to reports, the village prayer leader came to know that one of villagers had burnt some holy pages. The prayer leader himself called the man`s mother in the village mosque in the presence of two villagers where she reportedly said that her son had burnt pages from Surah Yasin and Noorani Qaida on Sunday (July 27).

The evidence of the burnt papers was provided by the 19-year-old niece of the suspect. At this, the prayer leader contacted the police to report the incident.

The police registered a case under Section 295-B of the PPC on the complaint of the prayer leader and arrested the suspect.

REMAND: AntiTerrorism Court Special Judge ziaulalh Khan extended three-day physical remand of Ayesha Bibi who was allegedly involved in an acid attackon a young man along with her mother-in-law at Muslim Bin Ageel Colony on July 20. Earlier, the judge had given three-day remand till July 29.

The judge directed the Fateh Sher police to present Ayesha on Aug 1. The police had registered a case against Ayesha, the wife of Shahzad, and her motherin-law Shaheen, and an unidentified person.

Shah Rukh was asleep in his room whose window opens onto the street when Ayesha, Shaheen, and an unidentified man threw acid on his face and body through the open window.

The FIR claims Shaheen suspected that her daughter-in-law was having an illicit relationship with the victim.

KILLED: Two friends shot dead their 24-yearold friend at Chak 56/4-R last night.

Muhammad Imran went to see maize fields with his two friends, Farid and Agib. Over some dispute, they shot Imran dead and fled. Imran was taken to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.-Correspondent
