RECENTLY I ordered a book online from Amazon (which wasn`t available in Pakistan, of course). I opted for the newly-established PkShip for delivery of the parcel. At first it seemed like an easy-come thing, but it turned out to be otherwise. The delivery charges and custom payment combined exceed the original price of the book by at least its double. It came as a shock to me. I had no other option but to pay the price! The point here is that PkShip, although a great effort, bears no fruit. Its CEO is a promising man, no doubt, but the service itself is not viable.
Anusha Rehman, Minister of State for Telecom and IT, announced at a GSMAorganised conference in Islamabad that Pakistan has been declared `white` in FATF (Financial Action Task Force) global ranking. She was positive that Pakistan now will attract global conglomerates like Amazon, Ebay and Paypal. It was heartening, but it has been nearly two years since her proclamation. Not a budge! But we still have all the more reasons to hope for the best.
