DHA commercialisation

2015-09-30
THIS is apropos the letter `DHA commercialisation` (Sept 13). I live in Street 33-A, off Khayaban-i-Shamsheer, Phase-V extension. I fully endorse the views of the writer as our peace of mind has been totally shattered by the two tuition/day-care centres operating in my street. Beside, a TV studio has been opened in the rented-portion of a bungalow adjacent to mine.

The studio people are often seen on the terrace overlooking my house, as a result of which our purdah-observing womenfolk cannot come out into the courtyard.

Drama shooting continues till late night.

Their powerful lights penetrate windowpanes of my house as a consequence of which we have to keep our curtains drawn. They also operate powerful generators which produce big noise.

Allowing commercial activity in houses is violative of section 28 of DHA`s construction bye-law 2000. The owner of the house cited the example of the tuition centres, saying that they too had been operating for the past eight months while the studio had just begun.

I request the DHA should stop all such activities in our residential area.
