CM orders artificial limbs for student

BAHAWALPUR: The Punjab chief minister has approved purchase of electronic limbs (arms) for a physically disabled M.Phil student of the Islamia University, Bahawalpur, (IUB).

The CM issued the directive to District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imran Skindar Baloch to collect details of Hafiz Muhammad Waqar Nizami`s case to arrange the electronic arms.

In his appeal through media, Nizami had urged the government and philanthropists to help him overcome his disability. Nizami lost his both arms when he accidently touched live electricity wires 12 years ago..

Talking to Dawn here on Tuesday, Waqar Nizami thanked the chief minister for announcing electronic limbs for him.

ELECTED: Zafar Sharif, Raja Shahzeb and Chaudhry Munawar Hassan of Business Group have been declaredelected unopposed president, senior vice-president and vice-president, respectively, of the Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

Their unopposed election was announced by BCCI when their rivals withdrew their nomination papers.

Earlier, 13 members of the same group headed by Senator Saood Majid Chaudhury were elected as members of the executive committee.

The BCCI General Council will meet on Wednesday (today) where new office-bearers will take oath of their respective offices.

X-RAY: The National TB Control Programme of the Federal Health Ministry has donated a modern digital X-Ray machine worth Rs150 million to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Ahmedpur East.

According to an official announcement, the latest machine has been given to the hospital by the ministry on the recommendation of Minister of State for Education Baleeghur Rehman and Task Force on Fake Drugs Chairman MPA Qazi Adnan Farid.
