THIS is with reference to your editorial Losing international arbitration` (Sept 23). It says the judicial community needs to understand their undue interference in foreign investment matters may lead to disputes which Pakistan will have to contestin internationalcourts.
Our lawyers do not contest cases wholeheartedly in international courts.
They pretend to be champions of rights within the country but they do not press to seek justice for the country during international arbitration.
Pakistan had reportedly paid £500,000 to a UK-based lawyer Khawar Qureshi in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case whereas the Indian attorney charged only one rupee.
Yet, we lost the case.
In another case, a stay order was granted to India in the water dispute case owing to the negligence of our lawyers. Let me remind you that Mr Qureshi had earlier representedIndiain anothercase.
The editorial further said: `There must be a limit to how far people are willing to go to settle scores arising from domestic politics`. I want to say that the people have beenunderstrain since the start ofthe Panama case. Our judicial and political communities, in collaboration with the electronic media, have already eaten a large share out of the cake which has fortunately not finished so far.
